All tournament participants must follow all state and federal laws.
3nd Annual Oregon Inlet Tuna Tournament
1. Registration - will be held on Thursday, May
29, 2008 from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM at Pirate’s Cove Marina, under
the Pavilion. The Captains Meeting will be at 7:30 PM. All boats
must be registered with the Tournament Committee and all entry fees
paid to qualify for prizes and trophies. Boats running late due
to weather or breakdown can register up until 8:00 AM on Friday.
Any substitute must be registered with the Tournament Director prior
to fishing and will be permissible only if original boat becomes
disabled.
2. Fishing Days – There will be two fishing days.
Fishing hours are from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM daily. No lines or teasers
in the water prior to 7:30 AM or after 3:00 PM. Any fish hooked
prior to 3:00 P.M. may be played until caught. Anglers must be at
the dock by 7:00pm on the last day.
3. Official Clock – TIME STARTS THE FIRST DAY
OF THE TOURNAMENT. Official tournament time will be continuous GPS
time. In case of tie in weight, length and girth time of weigh in
will determine the winner.
4. IGFA, Tackle and Motion – All I.G.F.A. rules
apply unless otherwise noted. Unconventional non-trolling techniques
are strictly prohibited. Chunking (chumming), casting, use of live
bait and green sticks are not permitted. There is no limit to the
number of lines in the water or anglers- anglers may pass the rod.
5. Boundaries – All fish must be hooked within
tournament boundaries which are: North 41350; South 40000; East
26700; fish can then be played outside boundaries until caught or
released.
6. Points System – All fish will receive 1 (one)
point per pound. Any tuna weighing less than 30 pounds will not
be eligible for points. Wahoo and dolphin points do not count toward
any tuna division. There is no billfish division.
7. Weighing Fish – Any fish weighed must be entered
on the scorecard by the Tournament Weighmaster. If anyone wants
to have a fish reweighed, it must be done while fish is still hanging.
All fish that have been mutilated will be disqualified. Mutilation
shall be defined as damage which would impair the fighting ability
of the fish. The decision of the weighmaster will be final. Weigh
stations will close at 8:00pm on Friday, any late entry, Friday
only, due to breakdown of vessel will be weighed upon arrival and
the weighstation will close at 7:00 PM on Saturday, no exceptions.
8. Scoring – All tuna will receive 1 (one) point
per pound. Yellowfin Tuna, Big Eye Tuna and Blackfin Tuna are eligible
for points in the Top Angler (single largest fish) and Top Boat
(aggregate total of three fish) divisions. Teams may weigh no more
than four tuna per day. Individual tuna may count toward both divisions.
The Top Angler will be awarded for the heaviest single tuna. Top
Boat honors will be determined by adding together the weights of
the team’s heaviest three fish from both days of fishing. Wahoo
and Dolphin will also receive 1 (one) point per pound; heaviest
single fish of each species will determine the winner in that category.
9. Tie Breaker – Winners will be determined by
weight. Weighed fish will be recorded in fractions of a pound. If
two or more entries are of the same weight, then the fish with the
largest total measurements (length plus girth) shall be deemed the
winner. If the weight and total measurements are the same, the fish
with the earliest weigh-in time will determine the winner.
10. Polygraph Testing – Crewmembers, Captain and
Mate of money winning boats and individual trophy winners may be
subject to polygraph testing before receiving any money and/or trophies.
Polygraph test for winners will be given on Saturday. (Designated
place and time to be announced at Captains Meeting.) By virtue or
signing the entry form, participants agree to the final decision
of the polygraph test. Refusal to submit to the polygraph test will
be automatic grounds for disqualification from the Tournament and
any winnings.
11. Protests – must be submitted in writing to
the Tournament Director by 10:00 PM on Friday and by 8:00 PM on
Saturday. Protests must be submitted in writing with a deposit of
$100 which will be refunded if the protest is upheld. The Rules
Committee at their discretion may use polygraph testing to reach
a decision. By virtue or signing the entry form all participants
agree to the final decision of the Rules Committee.
12. Cancellation Policy – If weather and/or other
conditions exist that require that the tournament be cancelled,
refunds will be paid less tournament expenses. The decision to cancel
the tournament will be made by the Tournament Director. One day
of fishing by at least 10% of the field constitutes a tournament.
13. Prize money – Checks will be made payable
to the entrant or authorized agent of the winning boat as designated
on the official entry form. Social Security Number or Taxpayer ID
